Andrean showcased resilience and timely execution, breaking through a tight contest to secure a 4–1 conference road victory over Hanover Central.
The matchup was played on Thursday, May 14, at Hanover Central High School in Cedar Lake, where the Fighting 59ers demonstrated their ability to rise to the occasion in critical moments.
Andrean struck first in the opening inning when Dani Poskin delivered a clutch RBI single, setting the tone for the visitors. Hanover Central answered quickly to tie the game, but the 59ers’ defense and pitching held firm, keeping the Wildcats from adding to their total. The breakthrough came in the fifth inning, when Andrean’s lineup erupted for three runs. Senior Sadie Drousias drove in the go‑ahead run with a sharp single, and sophomore Ashlyn Hite followed with a two‑run hit that gave Andrean breathing room.
Drousias was the centerpiece of the victory, tossing a complete seven‑inning gem. She scattered six hits, allowed only one unearned run, struck out five, and walked two, while also contributing offensively with her RBI. Leadoff spark plug Maddy McCoy added two hits and swiped two bases, keeping pressure on Hanover Central throughout the game.
Andrean’s balanced attack, highlighted by Drousias’s two‑way performance and Hite’s timely swing, underscored the depth and determination that carried the 59ers to a signature win.
