Tradition is a cornerstone of Andrean football, and alumni often play a role in reinforcing it.
According to head coach Chris Skinner, “Sometimes graduates stop back on campus in the summer. Sometimes they’ll talk to the guys, sometimes not. But it’s not about being nostalgic. It’s about showing what’s possible.” Skinner cited Notre Dame linebacker Drake Bowen as an example, saying, “His intense work ethic is why he deserves everything he’s earned. That’s a credit to him and his family. It’s about showing our players what’s achievable if you put in the work.”
The program’s motto, “tradition never graduates,” extends beyond mere words. Skinner explained, “It’s about passing on core values. Not everyone is going to a Power Four school, but you can reach heights you didn’t think possible when you were a freshman.”
Players also express their commitment to this culture. Junior Ethan Reyna said, “Everybody expects excellence. It’s not competition. We’re happy for each other.”
