Andrean jumped on Kankakee Valley immediately, kept piling on runs, and built such a huge lead that the game didn’t even go the full seven innings, defeating the latter, 15-0, in a conference baseball game.
The 59ers struck early and often, plating three runs in the first, four in the second, and six in the fourth to end the April 13 game by mercy rule, played at Andrean High School.
Senior pitcher Ian Funk was untouchable, tossing a complete-game shutout with eight strikeouts and no hits allowed over five innings, facing just 17 batters.
At the plate, Kaiden Maxwell fueled the offense with a perfect 2‑for‑2 day, including a double, four RBIs, and two hit‑by‑pitches. Aidan Gnatt added a 1‑for‑2 line with two RBIs, while Ford Stevenson went 1‑for‑1 and drove in two. Andrean’s lineup showed depth and patience, drawing six walks and capitalizing on every scoring chance. The 59ers finished with eight hits and 11 RBIs, while Kankakee Valley managed only two hits and struck out eight times against Funk’s dominant fastball.
Andrean improves its early‑season form and now turns its attention to a conference matchup at Hobart on Monday, April 20, at 5 p.m.
The 59ers swept the Brickies last year, winning 6–0 (April 21, 2025) and 11–1 (April 22, 2025), and will look to extend that streak behind a balanced offense and sharp pitching staff.
