Andrean High School’s varsity boys soccer team opened the fall season in impressive fashion, blanking Highland 3–0 on the road Monday. The Fighting 59ers combined a steady defense with an opportunistic attack to secure the shutout win.
The 59ers jumped ahead in the first half with a goal created by quick midfield buildup and a sharp finish inside the box. Andrean’s composure in possession allowed it to stretch Highland’s defense, leading to two additional goals after halftime. Each score came from different players, highlighting the team’s depth and ability to generate offense from multiple areas on the field.
Defensively, Andrean’s back line remained organized and disciplined, cutting off passing lanes and neutralizing Highland’s counterattacks. The goalkeeper added several key saves late in the match, ensuring the clean sheet.
The result provided a strong start to the year for the 59ers, establishing confidence in both their defensive structure and finishing ability. For a team looking to build consistency, the victory set an early standard of execution.
