Andrean boys wrestling turned in a postseason effort at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Regional in Hobart.
The regional tournament took place Feb. 7 at Hobart High School as Andrean competed in the Class A2 field against some of the top individual wrestlers in the region.
Andrean finished the event with eight team points, highlighted by a podium finish in the heavyweight division. Deshawn Jackson led the Fighting 59ers by placing fourth at 285 pounds, navigating a demanding bracket that required consistency and resilience across multiple matches. Jackson’s performance accounted for all eight of Andrean’s team points and capped a strong postseason showing at one of the most physically demanding weight classes in the tournament.
Quaid Murphy also represented Andrean at 120 pounds, competing against a deep and competitive field. While Murphy did not place, his qualification for the regional and participation at that level reflected the program’s continued presence in postseason competition and provided valuable experience against high-level opponents.
The Hobart Regional served as a challenging test for Andrean wrestlers, with tight matches, experienced competition, and limited scoring opportunities throughout the day. Andrean’s ability to earn points and place a wrestler on the podium underscored the program’s commitment to competing at the regional level and gaining postseason experience that will benefit the team moving forward.
