The Andrean Fighting 59ers girls basketball team is preparing for the 2025–26 season with a renewed offensive strategy and a seasoned leader guiding them.
Head coach Tony Scheub, now in his 14th year, indicated that this season will see a transition to a faster, more perimeter-focused style following the graduation of several key seniors. The team is set to face Munster on Friday, November 21, at 7 p.m. at Munster High School. According to Scheub, the challenging schedule aids in developing the toughness that has long characterized the program. “We’re spreading the floor more this year, pushing the pace, and relying on effort and grit,” he said. “These kids play hard, and that’s what keeps us competitive.”
Leilani Staten, the team’s only senior member, is taking on a leadership role after being the defensive anchor last season. Delaney Myers, another returning starter, emphasized her focus on balancing leadership with maintaining team chemistry. “We all play hard and make each other better every practice,” she said.
Looking ahead, Andrean will host Highland on Tuesday, December 2, at 7 p.m.
