The Andrean girls basketball team dropped a 64–30 decision to Valparaiso in Duneland Conference action.
The game was played Jan. 17 in Merrillville, Indiana, as the Fighting 59ers hosted the Vikings at Andrean High School.
Andrean battled through four quarters against a fast-paced Valparaiso lineup, working to generate offense while facing consistent ball pressure and an active defensive front. The 59ers continued to attack the paint and look for perimeter opportunities, rotating multiple players as they worked to find rhythm on the offensive end.
Lailoni Staten opened the scoring for Andrean and added points from the free-throw line, while Ellie Benjamin and Mia Krueger each connected from beyond the arc. Charlee Murray and Delaney Myers contributed baskets in the lane, and Ashlyn Hite knocked down a fourth-quarter 3-pointer to provide a spark. Sommer Branigin also added a free throw as Andrean continued to battle through the closing minutes.
Up next, Andrean will travel to Chesterton for a Duneland Conference matchup scheduled for Jan. 30 with a 7 p.m. tipoff.
The last time the two teams met, Chesterton edged Andrean 41–37 on Jan. 31 in a conference matchup.
