One explosive inning changes everything as the Andrean Fighting 59ers storm past Lowell Red Devils for a 5-1 baseball victory behind dominant pitching and timely hitting on Tuesday’s match.
The baseball game took place on May 4 at Andrean High School.
Lowell struck first in the top of the third inning to give the Red Devils a 1-0 edge, but Andrean quickly answered with a momentum-swinging rally in the bottom of the fourth. The 59ers pushed across five runs on four hits during the inning, highlighted by a two-run single from Luke Goben that gave Andrean control for good. Ian Funk handled the bulk of the work on the mound, allowing just one run on three hits across six innings while recording seven strikeouts and issuing only one walk.
Kaden Maxwell started the game and tossed a scoreless inning with two strikeouts before turning things over to the bullpen plan. Chase Nelson paced the Andrean offense with a pair of hits, while Goben finished with a team-high two RBIs. Andrean also played flawless defense, committing no errors in the win.
Up next, the Fighting 59ers will have a home conference game against Munster Mustangs on Monday, May 11, at 5 p.m.
