Andrean boys wrestling placed eighth as a team at the IHSAA Boys Wrestling Sectional on Saturday, totaling 57.5 points.
The sectional tournament took place Jan. 31 at Portage High School, where Andrean competed against a deep field and advanced several wrestlers into the placement rounds. Despite multiple forfeits across the lineup, the 59ers earned points through key individual performances and remained competitive throughout the day.
Andrean’s top finish came from Deshawn Jackson, who advanced to the finals and earned a second-place finish at 285 pounds to anchor the team’s scoring. Quaid Murphy added a fourth-place finish at 120, while Akira Hahn placed fifth at 144 to contribute additional points. Camden Rosmanitz earned a fifth-place finish at 190, and Andy Yurechko placed fifth at 215 to round out Andrean’s scoring efforts.
Those placements helped offset forfeits at several weight classes and allowed the 59ers to secure a top-eight finish in the final team standings. The performance highlighted Andrean’s ability to capitalize on opportunities in the postseason while continuing to develop depth across the lineup.
