Andrean delivered a dominant all-around performance, rolling to a 57-21 victory over Illiana Christian in nonconference action.
The game was played Jan. 27 at Andrean High School in Merrillville.
The Fighting 59ers set the tone early with pressure defense and efficient ball movement, building a commanding lead and never allowing Illiana Christian to find rhythm. Andrean controlled the tempo in all four quarters, forcing turnovers, winning the rebounding battle and converting in transition to stretch the margin into double figures by halftime. The defense held Illiana Christian to just 21 points for the game, limiting clean looks and protecting the paint with strong help-side rotations.
Delaney Myers led the balanced scoring effort with 12 points while adding three assists and three steals. Lailoni Staten and Charlee Murray each chipped in nine points, with Staten also contributing five rebounds and two assists. Ellie Benjamin added seven points and five assists, and Mikayla Hadt, Carrie Andras, Mia Krueger and Ashlyn Hite each provided key minutes on both ends of the floor as Andrean’s depth kept the pressure on throughout.
Andrean finished with 14 assists and 10 blocks as a team, showcasing unselfish offense and disciplined interior defense. The complete performance reflected the Fighting 59ers’ ability to execute in all phases, combining defensive intensity with balanced scoring to secure a convincing home win.
