As the season opens with three consecutive losses, Andrean High School’s varsity girls soccer team is using early adversity as a learning opportunity. The Fighting 59ers have struggled to find consistency on the field but are showing signs of growth in structure and attitude.
Offensively, opportunities have been limited, but several younger players are beginning to take shape in competitive minutes. Transition play is slowly improving, with midfielders showing increased awareness and willingness to support both attack and defense. The team’s training sessions have focused heavily on passing drills and shape retention, which coaches cite as a key to turning performances around.
Defensively, maintaining a compact back line has been a work in progress. However, the team’s communication has become noticeably better, especially during challenging late-game stretches. The Fighting 59ers are pressing to convert that improved cohesion into stronger results as they build toward conference play.
While the early results have yet to favor Andrean, the development of young contributors and steady improvements in strategy signify that the program might find its stride if it continues on its current path.
