The Andrean boys wrestling team finished 2–3 at the Michigan City tournament, earning team wins over Gary West Side and East Chicago while gaining valuable mat time against a deep and competitive field featuring programs from across the region.
The tournament took place on Jan. 3 in Michigan City, Indiana.
Andrean received several strong individual performances throughout the day as multiple wrestlers advanced deep into their brackets. Freshman Deshawn Jackson competed at 285 pounds and went a perfect 5–0 to lead the team, displaying consistency and control throughout the tournament. Senior Cam Rosmanitz (190) and freshman Tony Verduzco (113) each posted 4–1 records in their respective weight classes, contributing key points in close dual matchups.
Additional contributions came from freshman Quaid Murphy (120), senior Akira Hahn (144), and junior Andy Yurechko (215), who all finished the tournament with 3–2 records. Andrean’s lineup featured a balanced mix of underclassmen and veterans, with several wrestlers competing in tightly contested matches that were decided late.
Andrean is scheduled to return to action on Jan. 17, when it competes at the Northwest Crossroads Conference meet at Lowell, with wrestling set to begin at 3 p.m.
