At Andrean High School, success is a common expectation across various sports disciplines, with football players often feeling the responsibility to set the standard for others.
According to senior Ben Novak, “Football sets the tone for the rest of the season for all sports. If we don’t bring the juice, it affects everything. But I don’t see it as a competition. We thrive off each other’s success.” Junior Ethan Reyna echoed this sentiment, saying, “Tradition never graduates. Everybody kind of just expects a different kind of excellence. It’s not really competition. Everybody’s really happy for each other.”
Coach Skinner observed that the school’s culture is mirrored in his team. He said, “It shouldn’t be about a me-first attitude. We want players to represent the program the right way, and I think our guys do that.”
Novak further explained that this standard has become an integral part of Andrean’s identity: “When you come to Andrean, you want to win. As a family, we love winning. Students make sure they’re at games, making sure we’re there for each other.”
