Andrean opened Northwest Crossroads Conference play in style Friday night, rolling to a 38-8 win over Kankakee Valley to improve to 2-1 on the season.
The 59ers set the tone early with a strong first quarter, moving the ball with balance and capitalizing on field position to jump ahead. By halftime, Andrean held a 14-8 advantage, weathering Kankakee Valley’s lone score before taking full control after the break.
Running back Ethan Reyna helped spark the second-half surge with a physical rushing touchdown that pushed the margin to double digits. Quarterback play was efficient, with timely completions keeping drives alive, while Stetson Sullivan added to the scoring with a fourth-quarter touchdown run. A late field goal capped the dominant effort, stretching the lead to 30 points.
Andrean’s defense was equally impressive, shutting out the Kougars in the second half. The front seven generated steady pressure, while the secondary prevented big plays and forced quick punts. The 59ers’ ability to adjust and tighten up after halftime ensured there would be no comeback.
The victory provided a strong start to conference play, giving Andrean momentum as it turns its attention to next week’s matchup at Munster.
