Andrean delivered a decisive late‑game surge to break open a tight contest and secure a 9–3 varsity baseball victory over De La Salle on Friday, May 15.
The Fighting 59ers wasted no time setting the tone, as Chase Nelson blasted a solo home run to center in the opening inning. De La Salle quickly countered with a solo shot from Terrell Hampton‑Hall, and the teams traded runs through the early frames.
Andrean briefly regained the lead in the second on a daring steal of home, but De La Salle knotted the score again in the third with Beckett Hulten’s sacrifice fly.
The turning point came in the sixth inning, when Andrean’s lineup erupted. John Henry Lubash singled in a run to break the tie, and Luke Goben followed with a towering home run to center that gave the 59ers breathing room. Goben finished with three RBIs, while Nelson added two hits and three walks to fuel the offense.
On the mound, Louis Gage was dominant, striking out 11 over six innings while allowing just three hits and three runs. Trent Kulig closed the door with a perfect seventh, striking out the side. Andrean piled up 13 hits overall, with Aidan Gnatt, Lubash, Paxton Lukac, and Nelson each collecting two, underscoring the team’s depth and balance.
