Andrean boys basketball used a strong fourth quarter to defeat Hobart 64-56 in a conference matchup, closing the game on a decisive run after entering the final period trailing.
The game was played Feb. 12 at Hobart High School, where Andrean jumped out to an early 17-8 lead after the first quarter before momentum shifted throughout the middle two periods.
Hobart battled back to take a narrow 36-37 halftime edge, and the teams traded runs in a back-and-forth third quarter that ended with Hobart holding a 56-50 advantage. Andrean responded in the fourth quarter, tightening up defensively and finding timely offense to outscore Hobart 14-0 down the stretch and secure the eight-point win. The comeback effort highlighted the depth of Andrean’s roster, which includes seniors Gregory Taylor and Tiaan Coetzee, juniors Bryan Reynolds, Aidan Gnatt and Sam Gibson, sophomores Cole Gilvydis and Michael Mikuly, and freshman Nicholas Taylor.
With the victory, Andrean builds momentum heading into the final stretch of the regular season.
Up next, Andrean will travel to face Calumet New Tech on Feb. 27. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
