Andrean battled deep into extra innings but fell 4–3 to St. Laurence in a regional semifinal baseball clash on Monday, May 25, at Notre Dame.
The Fighting 59ers answered an early St. Laurence run with a first‑inning surge. Aidan Gnatt provided the big swing, blasting a three‑run homer to left that gave Andrean a 3–1 lead. St. Laurence chipped away over the middle frames, tying the game in the sixth on Sean Popp’s RBI single to center.
The duel stretched into the eighth, where Tristan Steger’s solo home run to right proved decisive. Andrean threatened late but couldn’t push across the tying run, stranding runners in the final frame.
Paxton Lukac added energy on the bases, swiping two bags to keep pressure on the defense. Gnatt finished 2‑for‑3 with three RBIs, while John Henry Lubash chipped in two hits. On the mound, Ian Funk allowed two runs across three innings, and Lukac took the loss in relief after surrendering one run on two hits.
Though the result went against them, Andrean’s mix of power, speed, and resilience showed the depth of their lineup and the grit that carried them into the regional semifinal stage.
