The Andrean boys wrestling team recorded several place finishes at the Lake County Invitational.
The tournament was held Saturday at Lake Central High School in St. John, Indiana, featuring a full day of individual competition against schools from across the region.
Heavyweight Deshawn Jackson led the Fighting 59ers with a second-place finish at 285 pounds, scoring 26 team points after advancing to the championship match. Quaid Murphy followed with a third-place showing at 120 pounds, contributing 17.5 points. Anthony Verduzco placed fifth at 113 pounds and added 18 points to the team total, while Camden Rosmanitz earned seventh at 190 pounds with 12.5 points. Akira Hahn (144) and Andy Yurechko (215) each recorded match victories and finished with four points. Gavin Hollingshead (126) and Arthur Hahn (150) competed in deep brackets and gained additional varsity experience.
Up next, Andrean will compete in the Lake Station Super 8 on Saturday, Jan. 24, with wrestling scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Lake Station Edison High School.
The Lake County Invitational provided Andrean with another high-level individual test during the heart of the season, allowing multiple wrestlers to score points and earn placement finishes against strong regional competition.
