The Andrean Fighting 59ers secured a decisive victory over Hanover Central with a 21-0 shutout in Merrillville. This win extended their momentum within the conference, marking a significant home triumph.
The game took place on October 10 at Andrean High School. The 59ers’ defense made a strong statement by keeping the Wildcats scoreless throughout all four quarters. Andrean controlled the game’s tempo from the outset, employing a balanced attack and forcing key turnovers that disrupted Hanover’s offensive flow.
Hanover quarterback Wyatt Tewell completed 13 of 24 passes for 107 yards; however, Andrean’s secondary maintained its strength by limiting big plays and securing two interceptions. The defensive front of the 59ers consistently pressured the pocket, recording multiple tackles for loss and hindering the Wildcats’ run game, which was limited to just 62 rushing yards. Andrean’s offense took advantage of strong field position throughout the night, scoring three touchdowns to ensure their shutout victory.
With this win, Andrean continues to build confidence as they approach postseason competition. The team aims to carry this energy into next week’s road matchup against Munster. Meanwhile, Hanover Central will seek to recover in their upcoming game against Kankakee Valley.
