Andrean defeated Boone Grove 8–7 in a neutral playoff game in the 2025–26 IHSAA Class 2A Softball State Tournament.
The tight contest was held Tuesday night, May 26, at Wheeler High School, where momentum swung wildly inning after inning.
Andrean opened the scoring when Dani Poskin drove home Maddy McCoy, giving the Niners an early spark in the sectional opener. They added another run through textbook small ball—Ashlyn Hite doubled, Aubrey Grasha walked, Ava Zygmuntowski advanced both runners, and Jayci Alba executed a bunt to bring a run across. Boone Grove countered with a surge of their own, building a 5–2 lead by the fourth and keeping Andrean under pressure deep into the game. Entering the seventh, the Niners needed three runs to extend their season.
What followed was a dramatic rally. Addison Osika drew a leadoff walk, and Alba battled through a 16‑pitch walk to put two aboard. McCoy’s bunt single loaded the bases, setting up Sadie Drousias, who delivered a clutch triple to tie the game. Poskin then lifted a sac fly to give Andrean the 8–7 advantage they protected in the bottom half to complete the comeback.
Next up is the sectional semifinals.
Andrean returns to Wheeler High School on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. to face Lake Station Edison in the sectional semis.
