Andrean senior guard Tiaan Coetzee is set to take on an expanded role in the 2025-26 season under the guidance of first-year head coach Jack Cundiff. Coetzee will be instrumental in leading a team comprised largely of seniors who are stepping into greater responsibilities.
The Andrean 59ers will commence their season on December 9 at home against 21st Century Charter, with the game scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Andrean High School.
Coetzee transferred to Andrean before last season and quickly became a key player, contributing significant minutes and increasing his presence as the year went on. He said that this experience helped build his confidence, preparing him for more leadership both on and off the court. As the team adapts to a new system, Coetzee is concentrating on consistency, work ethic, and becoming a dependable two-way guard.
According to Cundiff, Coetzee has made a notable impact early in his tenure. The coach remarked that the senior has “embodied everything Andrean basketball is supposed to be” while setting competitive standards during practices and offseason training.
Coetzee mentioned that this year’s team is distinctive because players understand their roles and trust each other to execute them effectively. With this chemistry enhancing overall energy and expectations within the locker room, Andrean aims to establish a strong identity from opening night and build momentum throughout the season.
