Andrean’s varsity girls volleyball team fell Saturday at the Tom Heck Invitational, dropping a non-conference match to Elkhart, 0–2. The Lions took both sets, 25–18 and 25–10, moving Andrean to a 1–5 overall mark.
Andrean looked spirited early, particularly in the first set, where their passing and defense gave them a chance to rally back. However, Elkhart’s clean execution and strategic serving quickly tilted the pace. The Lions leveraged sharper offensive sequences to seize control, while Andrean struggled to convert on key rotations.
Head coach Grant Bell emphasized the value of these early tests. “We got to see what needs sharpening—the flow, our serve-receive positioning against tough serves,” he said. Freshman setters showed promise in transition, though consistency remains a work in progress.
With conference play approaching, Andrean heads to Chesterton Tuesday. The 59ers will aim to refine focus and tighten their fundamentals before league competition heats up.
