Andrean senior Krystina Gil competed in the 140-pound weight class at the IHSAA Girls Wrestling Regional, earning a first-round victory before seeing her postseason run come to an end in a highly competitive bracket.
The regional tournament was held Jan. 10 at Plymouth High School in Plymouth, Indiana, bringing together top qualifiers from across northern Indiana in a double-elimination format.
Gil opened her run with a strong performance, recording a fall over Valparaiso junior Aubrey Fernandez at the 2:28 mark to advance on the championship side of the bracket. In the next round, Gil faced Chesterton sophomore Alice Scharp and battled deep into the match before being pinned at 5:40, sending her into the consolation rounds.
Gil continued to wrestle through the back side of the bracket but was later eliminated and did not place. She closed her senior season with a 19–8 overall record and competed in one of the deepest weight classes at the Plymouth site.
Her regional appearance reflected the effort, resilience, and competitive level required to reach the postseason stage, with Gil winning her opening bout and pushing through a tough second match while representing Andrean with determination and grit.
