Andrean held off South Bend Adams for a 61-58 victory in a tightly contested nonconference matchup, securing the win in the final minutes on its home floor.
The game took place Feb. 25 at Andrean High School in Merrillville, with tipoff scheduled for 7 p.m.
Sophomore Cole Gilvydis provided a key presence for the Fighting 59ers, helping steady Andrean during critical stretches of the game. The 6-foot-2 forward contributed on both ends of the floor, while seniors Tiaan Coetzee and Gregory Taylor added veteran leadership. Juniors Bryan Reynolds, Aidan Gnatt and Sam Gibson also played important roles as Andrean battled through four competitive quarters.
The 59ers executed late possessions and came up with timely defensive stops to protect the narrow lead. South Bend Adams applied pressure down the stretch, but Andrean’s composure in the closing moments secured the three-point victory.
Up next, Andrean prepares for postseason competition as the Fighting 59ers look to carry momentum forward. The tight finish reflected the competitive nature between the programs, with Andrean’s late execution proving decisive in a game settled by just one possession.
