Andrean defeated Illiana Christian 5–0 in Monday’s home playoff matchup, a postseason shutout that kept the Niners rolling toward a regional berth.
Andrean High School hosted the early-evening baseball clash on June 1.
With the first pitch delivered at 5 p.m., Kaden Maxwell immediately set the tone, retiring Illiana Christian in order in the top of the first to ignite the sectional‑final atmosphere. Andrean’s offense broke through in the bottom of the second, striking for three runs highlighted by a sharp two‑RBI single from Luke Goben that gave the Niners early control. Maxwell never relinquished it, carving through the lineup with command and poise.
The senior right‑hander finished a complete‑game shutout, scattering just three hits while striking out eight, and Goben’s two RBIs stood as the offensive anchor in a disciplined, efficient performance that reflected Andrean’s 27–3 season strength.
Next up, the Niners advance to Saturday’s regional, where they will face New Prairie with site and time still to be determined, according to Andrean Athletics.
Andrean enters the matchup riding a three‑game winning streak, boasting a 27–3 overall record, 10–2 conference mark, and a dominant 261–65 run differential as postseason play intensifies.
