For Andrean’s leaders, the objective is clear: achieving a state championship remains the primary goal.
Senior Ben Novak, who has committed to the University of Wisconsin, expressed his focus on this aim. “Win state — there’s no other doubt in my mind,” Novak said. “We have the group of guys to do it. We have the senior leadership council to do it. It’s just about molding as a team and grinding every day.”
According to junior Ethan Reyna, winning at Wayne State would be an ideal conclusion to their efforts. “Wayne state would be great, the cherry on top,” Reyna said. “Last year we came close. If we can make it and win, that would just be great.”
Both players indicated that last year’s semi-state loss has been a significant motivator during their offseason preparations. Reyna noted, “That loss left a nasty taste. We just want to come back better this year.”
Head coach Chris Skinner highlighted that their determination aligns with Andrean’s program values. “It’s not about one player,” Skinner said. “It’s about everybody buying in and continuing the tradition.”
As the 59ers prepare for 2024, Novak and Reyna’s shared focus underscores their commitment: nothing short of a championship will suffice.
