Andrean battled deep into extra innings before falling 5–2 to Griffith, showing resilience and strong pitching throughout the night.
The tight contest was played on Wednesday, May 20, at Griffith High School.
Andrean set the tone immediately, striking first in the opening inning when senior Dani Poskin ripped a two‑run double to the gap, giving the 59ers early momentum and a 2–0 lead. That swing energized the lineup and showcased the team’s ability to capitalize quickly against quality pitching.
Senior pitcher Sadie Drousias delivered one of her steadiest outings of the season, keeping Griffith off balance for most of the game. She worked 7 2/3 innings, allowing just four hits while striking out seven and navigating pressure situations with poise. Her command and competitiveness helped Andrean maintain control through the middle innings.
Offensively, the 59ers collected three hits—coming from Poskin, Maddy McCoy, and Cassidy Powell—and continued to pressure Griffith with disciplined at‑bats, walks, and two stolen bases that created scoring opportunities. Even as Griffith’s freshman pitcher found her rhythm, Andrean stayed aggressive and kept the game tight into extras.
Griffith managed to tie the game late and pushed across three runs in the eighth, but Andrean’s early execution, defensive steadiness, and strong pitching defined a performance that kept them in contention until the final swing.
