Ethan Reyna, a junior, is poised to take on a leadership role after carrying significant responsibilities as a sophomore.
“Not many sophomores get that chance to play varsity,” Reyna said. “It definitely helps. Now that I’m in my junior year, I’ve had that experience. It really set me up to be a better leader, better player, just better for the team.” According to Reyna, the 2023 semi-state loss continues to motivate him and his teammates. “It left a very nasty taste in our mouths,” he said. “We just want to come back better this year and win that game.”
Head coach Chris Skinner emphasized Reyna’s alignment with the program’s values. “He goes about his business, does what he’s supposed to in the classroom. He’s relatively quiet, but he represents what it means to be an Andrean football player,” Skinner said.
Reyna outlined the expectations for himself and his team: “Tradition never graduates,” he said. “Everybody expects excellence and success. It’s not really a competition. Everybody’s happy for each other and we want to make it back to the dome.”
