With Illiana Christian joining the Northwest Crossroads Conference (NCC), Andrean head coach Chris Skinner has expressed a positive outlook on the increased competition.
“I haven’t talked with their coaches, but I’d be more than willing,” Skinner said. “There are no secrets to what we do. We’re open about how we go about things.”
Skinner also hopes that Illiana will quickly become a strong competitor within the conference. “I hope they are super competitive,” he said. “If adding a quality opponent means more teams contending for NCC championships, bring it on.”
Andrean’s program is known for thriving on challenging schedules. According to Skinner, “We have a saying — iron sharpens iron.” He added, “If you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. We’re not ducking competition.”
For the 59ers, facing challenges is integral to their identity. Skinner said, “We want to schedule the best. That’s only going to make everybody in our conference better.”
